Cokin’s Corner, Wednesday 1/10/18

I am now a Lias Andersson fan. Chances are most of the readers of this blog have no idea who Lias Andersson is. He's a hockey player from Sweden, who was the seventh overall selection in the 2017 NHL draft. Andersson most recently was the captain of the Swedish entry in the Under20 World Junior Championship that concluded last week in Buffalo. Sweden ... More

I'm running very late tonight, so I'm passing on the commentary portion of the blog. Instead, just a fast recap of what took place with the Monday betting action and the Tuesday free play. The incredible thriller between Georgia and Alabama was as good as it gets. Thankfully, I had the points with Georgia and took home a winner. More detailed convo on ... More

I am saving my reflections on the weekend's NFL action for Monday's The Las Vegas Sportsline. The show airs 2-3 Pacific on ESPN Las Vegas, or for those who prefer to check us out online, lvsportsnetwork.com. In addition to breaking down what took place in the NFL and looking ahead to next weekend's action, we'll also go in-depth on tonight's Alabama-Ge... More

Cokin’s Corner, Sunday 1/7/18

Two quick takes put of the Saturday NFL playoff games. Props to the Titans on their comeback. But they were helped immeasurably when the Chiefs offense completely bogged down after Travis Kelce went down with a concussion. As usual, Alex Smith and Andy Reid are getting the brunt of the criticism for KC losing. No offense to anyone who wants to travel ... More

Cokin’s Corner, Saturday 1/6/18

My usual brief late Friday evening blog, as I've got what feels like about 1000 college basketball games to dissect. So, just the quick recap and plug, and my Saturday free play. The daily comp will be on one of the Saturday NFL playoff games. I went 3-0 in college hoops on Friday, but gave some of that back with 0-2 combined in the NBA and NHL. Both ... More

There's not much doubt about the big buzz topic on today's sports agenda. Seth Wickerham's brilliantly written piece at espn.com on the Patriots and what could be some substantial in-house issues is definitely must read material. Here's the link. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/hotread180105/beginning-end-new-england-patriots-robert-kraft-tom-brad... More

Cokin’s Corner, Thursday 1/4/18

UNLV basketball is now 12-3 following an overtime win on Wednesday night at San Jose State. That's the good news. And that's about all the good news there is. The fact is the Rebels were terrible for a second straight game, despite the fact they squeezed out a win over the lowly Spartans. The team basically did nothing well in this win. UNLV again ... Cokin’s Corner, Wednesday 1/3/18

There probably wasn't much question that Rich Rodriguez was going to be at or at least near the top of the 2018 college head football coaches on the hot seat list. That is no longer the case as RichRod is no longer the head coach at Arizona. Rodriguez is out as the head man after a buyout was negotiated. This apparently was not based on wins and losses, ... Cokin’s Corner, Tuesday 1/2/18

What a start to 2018! The Rose Bowl playoff duel between Georgia and Oklahoma was genuine instant classic material as the Bulldogs rallied twice before eventually winning a double overtime marathon. This was an amazing football game. Oklahoma appeared invincible for most of the first half in amassing a 31-14 lead before surrendering a late field goal. ... More
