Welcome to my favorite month of the college basketball season. I know March Madness is when the real excitement takes place. But for me, it's all about February. I have some late season angles that produce lots of plays, and this will be, as it always is, my heaviest volume month of the entire calendar year.
As for January, I'm delighted it's over. ...
This has nothing do with sports, but rather with life. For most of you reading this space, you probably haven't gotten to this point yet.
I don't know if this can be explained properly, as it's an intangible and in truth, it's all mental. But I know it's real, and most everyone in my age group gets precisely what I'm talking about here.
I just typed ...
For a rivalry battle, it wasn't much of a battle. Nevada came south and demolished UNLV last night by a misleading 87-70 score. Anyone who watched the game knows it wasn't that close.
It's not like there was much chance going in that the Rebels had a real shot to beat the Wolf Pack. That's not an insult to UNLV. The reality is that Nevada is a powerho...
Always nice to score an unexpected day off from the betting. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the action. But I also like the occasional respite and I got one on Monday as I couldn't find anything appealing enough to warrant a wager.
That will not be the case on Tuesday. Two games already played in hoops, and I expect to have one on the ice. The game I'm ...
Damn, I missed the Pro Bowl. Again. I think that makes like 40 years in a row. I'm pretty sure that if the day ever comes when I actually decide to watch this meaningless exhibition (which is literally more of an exhibition game than the real exhibition games known as the NFL pre-season) it will only be when my mind has completely turned to mush.
Sometime over the next few days, I'll post a rundown of college basketball coaches in what amounts to the handwriting is on the wall category. The motivation here is to isolate teams that might be mailing it in down the stretch. The aim is to find schools that should probably be fade material in many spots and playing on them should mostly be avoided. ...
Still grinding the huge Saturday college basketball schedule. I'll sneak away from the handicapping for a few minutes to post today's free play. As of now I am on five games but still looking for more possibilities. I should mention I was 0-1 on Friday with a loss on Butler. Expecting a much better set of results today!
The free play is one of the ...
It's close to a day off for me on Friday as there's obviously no football, plus the NHL is on its All-Star break, I'm not capping the NBA regular season and there are only six college basketball games. So I'll just post a free opinion on one of the Friday colleges and hopefully will find something a bit more substantive for Saturday.

Sometimes you're just not meant to win. A good example of how that phrase can ring true took place here in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.
If you just watched the flow of the game and didn't know the score, you'd have to think the Vegas Golden Knights were soundly defeating the Nashville Predators. As one who watches every Knights game, this was a Grade ...
Late evening out for me on Tuesday, so an ultra-quick blog this time. The Tuesday result was encouraging with a 2-0 sweep on Bowling Green and St. Peter's. I've got two plays set as of now for Wednesday, and I'll go ahead and use one of those for the free play.

I've completed my projections for the Super Bowl. My line is Rams -1.5. If this happened to be a regular season game, I can pretty well guarantee I'd be taking what I perceive as value with the Rams.
But there's the rub. This is not a regular season game. I've always believed the NFL playoffs, and most especially the Super Bowl, are not about garnering ...
Three quick observations from Sunday's NFL Conference Championship games.
I completely understand that making one play in any game the sole reason one team won and the other lost is an overstatement. Nevertheless, there was one play in each game that turned out to be bigger than any other in terms of dictating the winner, and they're each really clear ...
