Cokin’s Corner, Saturday 3/2/19
My usual very brief Friday blog as there is still lots of work to be done for the immense Saturday college basketball card.
Friday was good on the ice and bad on the hardwood. The Caps got there against the Islanders but my foray into the MAAC was disappointing with Marist never really in the game to much of an extent and Siena falling apart after amassing a nice lead.
By the way, the MAAC is beyond pathetic this season. Whatever team emerges from the conference tournament is likely to be a 16 seed and I don’t think you’ll have to sweat a shocker against whatever top seed the MAAC rep gets matched up with. In fact, I hope it’s Virginia. I’ll be laying the points if that’s the case.
I’ve got several games circled as possible plays for Saturday. Here’s one of them.
763 NEBRASKA-OMAHA at 764 DENVER
Take: DENVER +5
Long story short, Omaha blew its chance to share the conference title by falling apart down the stretch at Oral Roberts. Barring what would be a shocking upset loss, South Dakota State will now claim the crown. Omaha now has to stay on the road to facer Denver. The Pioneers need to win this game or their season ends as the last place team in the Summit foes not get to play in the tournament. But if Denver can win this game and Western Illinois loses at league leader South Dakota State, the Pioneers get to keep playing. So there’s more incentive here on the home dog side and I would lean Denver with the points.
