Cokin’s Corner, Saturday 5/26/18
Weekend blog mode. Friday’s result was a split, winning with the Tigers and losing a pretty exciting extra inning game between the Mets and Brewers. Net loss of about .15. Season to date still better than 28 net units (almost all plays one unit each).
The Mets were also the free play for Friday. Here’s the Saturday comp. I’ve only played one game as of now from this schedule. If this one gets added, I’ll post notice at Twitter (@davecokin). As of now, it’s a lean but I’ll be monitoring the betting line to see if enough value shows to make it a stronger opinion.
ANGELS (Barria) at YANKEES (Gray)
Take: ANGELS +145
The Halos hung tough on Friday night but came upon just short in a 2-1 loss to the Yankees. Rookie pitcher Jaime Barria has been a pity big surprise and if he can do a reasonable job containing the NYY bats, the Angels will be live here. Sonny Gray has mostly struggled at home this season and this Halos entry has been considerably better on the road than at Anaheim. I’ll need more than +145 to make this a selection but it’s at the very least a lean on the Angels at this point.
Quick note in response to questions about why the free plays in baseball have frequently been leans and not full plays…. I’m very low volume this season in baseball, with some firm guidelines I’m adhering to as far as getting my required value. Simple as that, really. I’d rather not pretend I like a game more than I actually do. No arguing with the results thus far!
