Cokin’s Corner, Saturday 7/21/18

  • July 20, 2018

Vacation is done. Del Mar could not have been better. Hanging out where the surf meets the turf is always great. This time it was even better as I managed to extract a rather nice profit at the races, thanks to a really good result in Wednesday’s Opening Day second race. I was pretty much in bob and weave mode after that, but got some good results on a few chalk wagers and came out well ahead overall. Note that is not the usual result for me with the ponies, but it was this time.

I’ll get back into the more regular blog format within the next day or two, but for now just a free play on the Saturday card with a brief analysis.

DODGERS (Kershaw) at BREWERS (Anderson)

Take: DODGERS -175

Big price to be sure, but the Dodgers are a very confident bunch right now with the addition of superstar Manny Machado. The Brewers are in a blue funk. They stopped hitting prior to the break and the offensive woes continued on Friday night. Milwaukee is fade or pass for me right now. Kershaw is still not in Kershaw form but he’s got a great chance to contain a badly slumping Brewers attack that can be handled by good lefties. Even at the steep impost, I like the Dodgers is this game.
