Cokin’s Corner, Thursday 12/20/18

Just in case you missed it, there was an epic bad beat on Wednesday night in college basketball. I’m talking all-time level here. I was not personally involved in the game. Let’s just say that anyone who had Duquesne +5.5 got incredibly unlucky. If you had Penn State, take the money and run.

Tie game with five seconds remaining. Duquesne gets whistled for a foul. You can decide for yourself if the right call was made. But Keith Dambrot certainly disagreed with the whistle, and the Dukes head coach absolutely lost his mind.

Dambrot ended up getting called for a double technical. That meant six free throws for Penn State, two for original call, and four more for the two techs. Needless to say, even though they’re actually a below average foul shooting team, the Nittany Lions went 6/6. If you had the Dukes, that’s just unbelievably bad fortune. It literally cannot get worse than that.

I split a pair of plays on Wednesday. San Diego State was a dead wrong side in its bowl game with Ohio. The Aztecs never had a chance. Fortunately, that loser was offset with a nice all on Arizona in college basketball.

Not much going for me on Thursday. Maybe one college basketball play, and that’s the daily free play below. I’m passing the bowl game between Marshall and South Florida. I made the Herd -3, so I see no edge either way in this game. As for the NHL, there’s a big slate and I hope to find a good play or two in the morning.

Easy free play winner on Wednesday with Texas A&M. Here’s the Thursday comp. It’s a good side on the math, but I have not yet decided whether to make it a service play or not.
