Cokin’s Corner, Thursday 6/13/19
Congratulations to the St. Louis Blues, the new Stanley Cup champions. The Blues capped off one of the most amazing comebacks of all time with the win at Boston last night. This, of course, refers to the fact that on January 3 of this year, the Blues were dead last in the entire league, #31 out of 31 in points. For a team dead and buried to turn it around and win Lord Stanley ranks as one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever seen in sports.
The NBA gets center stage back tonight as the Warriors play their final game ever at Oracle in Oakland. It could also be their final game of the season if they’re not able to knock off the Toronto Raptors.
I don’t really have much of an opinion on the game. The Raptors have been the better squad in this series, I don’t think there’s any argument on that count. But the ability to finish against this Golden State team is a rare commodity, Just ask the Houston Rockets.
What U do see here is line value with the home team. Consider this. The Warriors were -4 in Game Three, and that was without Klay Thompson. Thompson is fine now and yet the Warriors are just -2.5 at the present time. What that means is that if you like Toronto, no problem, you might very well have it nailed. But just know going in, you’re not deriving any value at the current price.
With no strong view on the game, my side therefore has to be the one with what I see as the value, and that’s the Warriors.
RAPTORS at WARRIORS
Take: WARRIORS -2.5
