Cokin’s Corner, Thursday 8/31/17
I’m cutting right to the chase in today’s blog. I’ve found that once football starts, the readers of this blog primarily want plays rather than my views of what’s happening in the sports world. So, I’ll skip the commentary and get right to results, the obligatory promo and the daily comp.
Wednesday was a 1-0 day for me, with a very easy Runs Line winner on the Twins. That maintains the momentum in what is a very strong recent run. I’ve got three plays for Thursday’s football, two in the NFL as the preseason wraps up, plus one college game that I’ll use as today’s free play.
I’m off to a terrific start to the 2017 football season, as last week was very good. My season package includes every college, NFL as well as CFL play between now and the Super Bowl. I’ve also decided to go ahead and include the rest of the baseball season for anyone who subscribes. The plays are sent out via email with analysis in most cases, and everyone who signs upon with me gets ALL the plays. Sign up using the Cokin’s Picks option to the right of the page. Got questions? Feel free to ask by contacting me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Big numbers galore on tonight’s college card. There’s a Pros/Joes battleground on one of the games. I am taking a stance on the ESPN duel between the Buckeyes and Hoosiers for today’s free play.
Ohio State at Indiana
Take: INDIANA +21
I give Indiana a decent chance to hang in tonight against the Buckeyes. Ohio State is clearly the superior entry and they certainly figure to win the game by a comfortable margin.
But to cover the Buckeyes would need to blow out the Hoosiers by more than three TD’s, and I don’t see Indiana as a pushover. The key for me is what should be an improved Hoosiers defense and a veteran QB who should cut down on his turnovers.
There are couple of checklist categories that point to Indiana as being under the radar improved and we’re getting a load of points against a very public Buckeyes squad. I’m going to give Indiana plus the points a roll tonight.
