Cokin’s Corner, Wednesday 12/19/18
I’m always up for something new. So I’m smiling at the war of words between Penny Hardaway and Rick Barnes. Hardaway is clearly the aggressor right now in this battle. The former NBA star and first year Memphis Tigers head coach is none too pleased with Barnes accusing his players of flopping in the game that got played a few days ago.
The fact is they were flopping and it couldn’t have been more obvious, but I really don’t care about that. I’m just enthused that whether by design or legitimate dislike for Barnes (the words would indicate the latter) the intensity level of the Memphis-Tennessee rivalry is about to get ramped up.
We’ll have to wait till next season for the upcoming installment. But I’ll have that game circled as one I’ve got to watch. Meanwhile, I’ll be very interested to see how the teams respond in their next game, whether there’s some kind of carryover. I really want to see what Memphis does tonight as they host Little Rock. It’s a game the Tigers should win comfortably if they’re focused, but whether they will be is definitely questionable.
In any event, I like the emotion from Hardaway. It certainly looks like he’s got a chance to be a lightning rod of sorts as a college head coach. From a fan standpoint, that’s great. I’m all for outside the box renegades if that’s the proper term, and it looks like Penny is going to be one of those guys who avoids the tired old cliches.
I didn’t have any full plays on Tuesday. Messed around with four college hoops half unit sides and went 1-2-1. Tonight’s card gets me back to the full unit level with one college basketball side and a play on the Frisco Bowl. Possibly adds during the day, but at the very least a couple games I like this evening.
The Super Bowl Special deal to the right the page at the Cokin’s Picks menu includes all plays across the board through the Big Game in early February. Subscribe now via that menu or email me directly at email@example.com if you’d like more elaborate info.
The Tuesday free play worked out nicely as North Texas won at New Mexico. That was one of the plays subscribers received. Today’s comp fits the added opinion category, at least for the time being. It’s a power ratings play, so I’ll just post the game and will not add any extraneous analysis.
