Cokin’s Corner, Wednesday 7/25/18

  • July 24, 2018

Quick blog tonight as I’m crunching some college football numbers. I can hardly believe the NFL exhibition season gets started next week. The sand definitely seems to flow through the hourglass in a hurry these days!

I lost my play on the Tigers on Tuesday night. That turned out to be the only personal service play. The daily free play was a miracle comeback winner as Oakland simply refuses to lose.

My Wednesday MLB card is deeper than usual, as I’ve played four games already. One of those is the daily free play. Note the early football signup packages are now available to the right of the page under the Cokin’s Picks heading. Email me at cokin@cox.net for more detailed info.

DODGERS at PHILLIES (Buehler-Arrieta)

Take: DODGERS -130

I’m a big Walker Buehler believer. The Dodgers rookie has top of the rotation stuff. The only thing holding him back right now is the organization being a bit overprotective. I’m hoping they’re just going to put him in the rotation, let him potentially dominate for five or six innings and go from there. Jake Arrieta will be pitching for the Phillies and he’s still very capable of a good game. But one thing that is now pretty clear is that Arrieta is pretty much done once he’s gone through the order twice. I’ve got Buehler with a decent starting pitcher edge. Factor in back to back short starting pitcher outings by Eflin and Nola and this might be a game where Arrieta has to go longer. That’s an added advantage for the Dodgers on paper. I think this line is considerably too short and I’m taking the Dodgers.
